Qui apporte quoi?

A BBQ with friends where neither the buns nor the ice go missing

The backyard BBQ is the kingdom of “just bring something!”: a well-meaning instruction that reliably produces four bags of chips, two cases of warm beer for lack of ice, and zero burger buns. The host covers the meat and the grill; the rest should sort itself out, and yet.

Qui apporte quoi? gives “just bring something” actual structure: you check the BBQ suggestions (veggies and dip, salads, buns, condiments, desserts, beer, ice), share the link in the group, and everyone publicly picks their contribution. At a glance, the whole group sees the buns are covered but nobody has the ice yet.

Everyone can also specify their dish (“my Greek salad”) or propose something beyond the list: your friends' talents deserve better than a generic checkbox.

How to organize the BBQ in four steps

1

Create the event with the “BBQ” occasion, the date, the time, and the address of the backyard or the park.

2

Check the suggestions: veggies and dip, salads, burger and hot dog buns, condiments, desserts, drinks, beer, ice. Add your must-haves.

3

Set quantities where needed: “2 salads”, “3 bags of ice”. The page shows “1 taken, 3 needed” until it's complete.

4

Share the link in the group. Everyone picks with their first name and can specify their dish; if the crowd grows, newcomers immediately see what's missing.

Free for up to 20 things to bring per event. After that, $5.99 CAD once for that event, no subscription.

The weather changes, the list keeps up

Don't have a BBQ date yet? quipeutquand.ca polls the group's availability before you even open the event here. A BBQ is a moving target: the date slips a week, six people become twelve, someone remembers at the last minute that charcoal is needed. Since everything lives behind one link, you adjust the list as you go (one more item, a bigger quantity) and everyone sees the up-to-date version, without another message to the group.

If someone backs out, they cancel their contribution with their personal link and their spot frees up immediately: the salad becomes available again for the next person who opens the page. And the day before, the email reminder makes the rounds: nobody arrives at the park having forgotten the cooler.

Frequently asked questions

How do I make sure nobody brings the same thing to the BBQ?
Each item on the list has a set number of spots. Once it's taken, it shows with the person's first name: you can't take it again without seeing that. Duplicates become structurally impossible.
Can people specify what they're bringing, like which salad?
Yes. When picking an item, everyone can add an optional detail (“my Greek salad”, “homemade brownies”) that shows on the page next to their name.
What if the BBQ date changes?
Change the date in your dashboard: the public page updates for everyone, and the day-before reminder follows the new date. The link itself never changes.
Can friends of friends join in?
Yes, anyone with the link can pick something to bring. It's a public link you share with whoever you want; only the organizer link stays secret.
